STIR/SHAKEN is a framework designed to allow the telephone industry to combat fraudulent robocalls and illegal phone number spoofing. STIR stands for Secure Telephony Identity Revisited. SHAKEN stands for Secure Handling of Asserted information using toKENs. STIR/SHAKEN allows carriers to securely transmit information identifying the source and destination phone numbers, as well as a trust level for outgoing calls. There are three possible levels of trust:
Most outgoing calls on the Ravon network will receive an A level of trust. In rare cases where the Caller ID is being spoofed for legitimate business reasons we will assign a B level of trust. Ravon never allows unauthenticated outgoing calls so we will never assign a C level of trust.
Most customers will not encounter any issues with their calls. If you are sending outbound calls with a non-Ravon phone number some terminating carriers may flag your calls as potential spam. If this happens we encourage you to use a Ravon phone number for your Caller ID.
